Database Considerations

IP Server saves configuration settings, user names, camera information and event logs in a Microsoft SQL Server database. When IP Server starts, it reads its settings directly from the assigned database.

IP Server saves all video recordings to its local hard drives, SAS/NAS storage device so video recordings are still accessible in case of a SQL database failure.


The following table can be used to determine whether a local or shared database is required:
