The process of verification of communication between IP Server and IP Camera is crucial for the functioning of Failover Edge Recording. This step will help make troubleshooting easier in the event of an unlikely Edge Recording failure.

After the IP Server has restarted, open the camera’s Management interface within the internet browser window that was minimized at the end of Step 1:

On the left panel, select Setup.

On the Setup page, the green button labeled Basic should be highlighted by default. Select the SD Memory card tab at the top of the screen.

On the SD Memory card page, Use must be selected.

Overwrite must be On.

Recording Stream 1:

The default value for the Recording Format is H.264. It is possible to select one of the four available H.264 settings.

Consult the camera’s documentation for more information on how this option affects the video captured with Edge Recording.

SD memory card information: Format the
installed SD Card.

It is recommended to fully format the SD Card during the initial Edge Recording setup.

This option allows to determine if the IP Server has been successfully connected to the IP Camera with Failover Edge Recording enabled.

Verify that the Save Trigger (under Recording Stream 1) is greyed out and displays the status Network failure.

If Network failure message is not visible, then IP server is not communicating with the camera. It is recommended to remove the camera from IP server and reset it to its original factory condition; afterwards, repeat the Communication Verification procedure.

If the Network failure message is visible, a successful connection between the IP Camera and Failover Edge Recording has been established.

Reboot the camera following these steps:

Click on Maintenance (on the left).

Select the Default reset tab.

Find Reboot from the list of options and then click Execute.

The reboot process should take about 2 minutes.
